Jewstock - by Marom Budapest
5-8th August 2010, Lake Bánk, Hungary
Jewstock – the ultimate Jewish European alternative backpackers festival will be organised for the 5th time in Hungary in 2010 by Marom Budapest. The location of the festival is by a beautiful Lake where you can meet young people from Hungary and abroad, engage in creative programs – discussions, concerts, theatre plays, workshops, local history projects, arts projects, do sports, relax and enjoy being part of a special community with a strong social justice orientation. Las but not least you can participate in a kabbalath shabbath by the Lake and spend a shabbathon together with other progressive and open minded people.
The theme of the festival is ACTIVISM, and the focus of the programs is minorities (Jewish, gipsy, and Slovakian) their challenges, cultural values, history and the possibility of inter-cultural dialogue. Our special guest on the festival will be David Lazar from Israel, who will make interesting workshops and study sessions. We plan to bring the Israeli band: Apples to the festival, and there will be several bands – from hip-hop to jazz.

Ticket prices: until 1st June: daily ticket 2000 HUF (ca. 10 EUR) / 4-days ticket 6000 HUF (ca. 25 EUR) until 25th July: daily ticket 2500 HUF (ca. 12 EUR) / 4-days ticket 8000 HUF (ca. 35 EUR) from 26th July: daily ticket 3500 HUF (ca. 15 EUR) 4 days ticket 11000 HUF (ca. 45 EUR)
Accommodation possibilities: There are various accommodation opportunities: you can camp in tents (ca. 4 EUR / day), you can sleep in guest houses (from ca. 13 EUR) or enjoy staying in a wellness hotel (ca. 40 EUR) All detailed information will be available on the website from the 1st May!
Travel: Lake Bánk is 40 kms from Budapest. We will have buses from Budapest directly going to the festival that will be cheap and comfortable. Otherwise you can go by train, car, hitchhiking, bike!
Subsidies: A limited resource will be provided to subsidize participation of leaders of Marom groups from across Europe. Please send your request ASAP, so that we can make sure to provide you financial assistance!
