In 2014 October MAROM Budapest opened a unique community space: Aurora. Aurora is a self-sustaining social enterprise. It is a community space for socially active young adults who are interested in community building, social justice, Judaism – and more.
The building consists of three levels – and provides three functions: work, home and entertainment. The rooms of the first floor are designed to function as offices for different NGO’s that represent marginalized groups, such as LGBTQ, Roma, homeless, and other groups. There is co-working space where the volunteers hold their meetings or work individually. The groundfloor hosts a café / bar, further rooms for exhibition, movie screening, and a room that functions as the Dor Chadash shul. The shul is maintained by the egalitarian minyen affiliated with the Masorti movement. The building has a huge (160 sqm) basement which is used for workshops, concerts, theatrical performances, and exhibitions.
Auróra is located at 11 Auróra street, Budapest
